Week 8 (15th October - 20th October)

Updated: Jul 1, 2020

After the exciting trip, we went back to Markham and continued with our internship at the IBM office. As our work was starting to pick up and our time left in Canada was starting to run out, we decided to have a chill weekend this week.

On Saturday ( 19th October ) , Hugo and I decided to check out a nearby mall called CF Markville as we heard about this mall from Aunty Carrie.

Overall CF Markville was a relatively chill mall, it is decently big with a good amount of shops to keep you entertained for a few hours. After visiting the mall, we headed back home for dinner and to rest.

On Sunday ( 20th October ) , Hugo and I decided to head for Casa Loma after lunch, a beautifully constructed castle made in 1914 - the castle itself is huge, with 98 rooms and many secret passageways/areas. As such, we predicted that it would take quite a while to fully explore the castle - and it did as we spent a whopping 4-5 hours at Casa Loma.

A little sneak preview of the interior of Casa Loma:

The architecture and furnishing of the castle is brilliant and the rooms are full of cool artifacts with interesting stories behind each room and artifact. If you're really interested in learning the full history and stories behind each room, you can approach the counter near the entrance and request for an audio guide which is a device that will tell you the stories of the castle from the secret passageways to the construction of the library and even the design of the bathrooms.

You will be able to get a beautiful shot of Toronto's skyline as you ascend the castle ( be sure to check out the other towers ). And once you're done exploring the interior of the castle, you can check out the exterior which has a elegant looking fountain and charming garden where you can take even more pictures of the castle.

By the time we were done with Casa Loma, it was near 5pm. This was perfect timing as we headed off to the CN tower to catch the sunset.

The CN tower is located within walking distance from Union Station where we took a few pictures.

We managed to reach CN tower just in time to catch the sunset.

CN tower is one of the tallest towers in the world, standing at a height of 553 metres. This is the place to get a picture of the city skyline without a doubt. I'd recommend coming earlier and getting a nice spot to settle down and watch the sunset as the observatory deck will be crowded and it might get cramped as you struggle to find a spot to take your photos.

After watching the wonderful sunset, we headed back home to get some rest. That concludes our week. See you again on week 9!
